2027 ; gale of transfer/ reshuffle hits Anambra INEC  takes  delivery of 5,720 BVAS

NKIRU NWAGBO, AWKA.

Ninety seven days to the conduct of the general elections in the country a gale of transfers and reshuffling has hit the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC)in Anambra state.

Dausing the apprehension in several quarters that the move is not aimed at compromising the electoral process the Commission contended that such allegations are untrue insisting that it is a routine.

This development affected more Electoral Officers ,  and local government staff of the Commission which according to the Commission is aimed at injecting fresh blood and tonic into the system.

According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner ( REC ) in Anambra Mrs Queen Elizabeth Agwu in a stakeholders meeting which had in attendance political parties and candidates, the transfer is normal and aimed at rejuvenating the system.

She explained that the transfer has no political coloration or intentions adding that it is not aimed at pleasing any candidate but for success of the election.

"This is a civil service system and it is normal because some may have stayed too long in a place and the possibility of of taking certain things for granted is there " 

"Again some may have retired like in Anambra state this August witnessed a lot of retirements so we need to post new people there and also those that have been promoted have gone up and their former positions are now vacant so a new positing takes effect" 

The Chief Electoral Officer also announced that the state Commission 5,720 BVas for the 5,720 Polling Units adding that the Commissioner still have reserves in the event of one gets malfunctioned .

She noted that the Commission has continued to train it's staff and had been able to upgrade all gadgets and ICT materials for the coming election promising that there will be no incident of glitches during the election.

The Commission also announced that those who had registered between January and July have their names already published urging them to go and verify their names and make observations of any .

The Commission however expressed disappointment over the absence of the state Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Committee ( IPAC)  Mr Eminence Ugochukwu who was invited to the stakeholders meeting noting that it is unbecoming of such an action insisting that the position of the body is indeed pivotal to whatever the Commission is doing to ensure a credible process.
