Shock, horror, and absolute mayhem have engulfed the All Professions Grand Alliance (APGA) House of Representatives primaries in Aguata, as the democratic process descended into a theater of violence.  In what eyewitnesses are calling a brazen and barbaric assault on the rule of law, political thugs allegedly loyal to opposition camps have launched coordinated attacks across multiple communities, ruthlessly targeting and flogging supporters of frontrunner Hon. Afam Ezenwafor. Reports filtering in from the ground paint a grim picture of panic, with accreditation halls in Umuchu, Achina, Akpo, and Nkpologwu being transformed into zones of terror.  Thugs armed with heavy canes reportedly stormed the venues, wielding them mercilessly to systematically hunt down, beat, and chase Hon. Ezenwafor’s supporters out of the voting queues, leaving many injured and terrified. This shocking display of lawlessness has triggere...

*Name-Dropping and the Aguata Federal Constituency House of Representatives Race

Image
*Name-Dropping and the Aguata Federal Constituency House of Representatives Race * As the countdown to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primaries gathers momentum, the political landscape in Aguata Federal Constituency is becoming clearer—and, in some respects, more revealing. A noticeable trend by one of the aspirants is the increasing resort to “name-dropping,” particularly claims of closeness to, or endorsement by, the party’s national leadership. While access to party leaders may be a natural by-product of holding public office, it should not be misconstrued as a substitute for _anointing, blessing or endorsing_ an aspirant . The incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Dominic Okafor, by virtue of his office, maintains official channels of engagement with the Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, OFR (Oluatuegwu), and the party’s national leadership, including the National Chairman, Barr. Sly Okenwa. Similarly, Hon. Chibueze Ofobuike, as ...

*Unveiling the veiled: How Inordinate Ambition Cost Aguata South the Chairmanship of Aguata Local Government

Image
  * Unveiling the veiled: How Inordinate Ambition Cost Aguata South the Chairmanship of Aguata Local Government* Aguata Local Government Area has long enjoyed its own fair share of peace and tranquility in the selection of its Chairman. This harmony has been anchored on an unwritten gentleman's agreement between Aguata North and Aguata South. The arrangement is simple: One zone occupies the Chairmanship position for eight years, after which it rotates to the other zone for the same duration. In the build-up to the 2027 general elections, this longstanding tradition of fairness that characterised the practice has been subtly and tactically subverted. This disruption is widely attributed to the maverick manoeuvrings of Chibueze Ofobuike (the incumbent Chairman of the Local Government Area), actions which ultimately cost Aguata South the opportunity to complete its eight-year tenure as Local Government Chairman. His Excellency, Mr. Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, OFR (Ol...
