  Nine persons killed as unknown Gunmen attack Ukpomachi Village in Anambra. NKIRU NWAGBO, AWKA. Nine persons ,including women and children are feared dead, following an attack by unknown Gunmen   that violently  attacked Ukpomachi Village, Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, in the early hours of today.    According to eye an witness , the hoodlums stormed the area along the igbariam junction axis killing the people   and about twenth three cows.  The situation caused panic and tension within the area which is largely inhabited by students of the Anambra state University, Igbariam.  The incident which happened at about two o'clock Monday morning forced many students and residents to flee the area for fear of reprisal attacks.  The Public Reactions officer of the University, Doctor Christian Chukwueloka in a telephone interview described the incident as  unfortunate but however noted that the school authority may not have much to do over the panic as the students

By NKIRU NWAGBO ,AWKA.    Former governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has said that insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping and killings by Fulani herdsmen, will stop if women are empowered to bring up children in society. Speaking Saturday in Abuja during the first conference and inauguration of the United Business Women Association of Nigeria (UBWA), Okorocha said that poor family upbringing is the reason insecurity is on the increase, but revealed that women will play a great role in curbing the menace if empowered. Mercy Cynthia Mmesoma Obi, popularly known as Ada Jesus has died in an Abuja hospital of complications arising from kidney failure, few days after an encounter with Onitsha-based preacher, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, alias  Odumeje , inside his church. A video surfaced recently where the 27-year-old seriously sick young lady was taken to the pastor, to whom she went to seek forgiveness for her earlier comments, suggesting that his miracles were fake. But, the eccentric cleric boldly pointed out that he would not forgive her, and instead, laid more curses, including saying she would die of her sickness, as she lay on the floor, with her family members pleading her case. Imo State-born celibate Prophet, Godfrey Gbujie has said that recent cases of violent attacks been recorded across Nigeria are in line with God's plan. Gbujie, 64-year old prophet from Akabuo in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo, but based in Enugu gave the explanation in a briefing to journalists on Sunday in Awka. AWKA Suspected Fulani Herdsmen have kidnapped five  persons  in Nando and Igbariam in  Anambra East local government area making demand of N 3 million ransom. Although it is not clear the number of villagers that were kidnapped but an eye witness who gave his name as Nwachim Okechi narrated that the incident occurred while they were coming home from a traditional wedding in Awka on Saturday . NKIRU NWAGBO AWKA  The Anambra state  commissioner for public utilities  Engr Emeka Ezenwanne who was kidnapped on Wednesday when unknown Gunmen attacked the former Governor Central Bank of Nigeria,  Prof Soludo has been released. Recall that  gunmen who invaded the venue of an interactive session between a Frontline All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship aspirant, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and youths of his community, Isuofia. The gunmen killed three of his Orderlies, and made away with the commissioner who had scaled the fence in attempt to escape, but ran into the gunmen. A source who spoke to the commissioner said, "I just spoke to the commissioner now. He has been freed, and he is in good health too. Professor Chukwuma Soludo a former CBN governor and an aspirant for the governorship of Anambra State under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has recounted how the attack at his hometown of Isuofia took place. Speaking on a Channels Television interview on Thursday Night, Prof Soludo used the opportunity to appeal for the release of the Anambra state Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne who was kidnapped during the attack. AWKA The Anambra State command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of additional four suspectsthat four additional suspects  in connection to the attack on the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Prof Chukwuma  Soludo. The  Anambra State police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, stated this in a statement.   Gunmen Invade Home Of Ex-Sports Minister, Shoot Two Policemen, Boy Two policemen attached to Ex-Sports Minister Damishi Sango were shot by Gunmen who  stormed the residence of the former Minister  at Ganawuri in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Wednesday night. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) reports that the Police in Plateau have confirmed the attack by gunmen, saying two of the policemen attached to the former minister under the Peoples Democratic Party, were shot by the bandits.
