  Soludo wife to provide free cervical cancer screening for female civil servants  from Uchenna Eze Awka Anambra Governor's wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo will be providing free cervical cancer screening for female civil servants and public servants and wives of male civil servants and public servants in the state. The free cervical cancer screening to be carried out in collaboration with the World Health Organization, WHO office in Anambra State, will be held in the Head of Service Conference Room, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka on Friday, September 29, 2023.   Group offers 10 children scholarship,  palliative to widows in Anambra community  A Community Based Organisation (CBO), Umuokpu Ukpo N’akwu Na-eziokwu in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra has offered scholarship to 10 indigent children from Ukpo. The group also gave out bags of rice, yam tubers, wrappers and cash  to scores of indigent widows, women and residents of Ukpo Community at an event to mark their two years anniversary on Thursday in Ukpo. Mrs Ifeoma Nweze, President of the association said the members are daughters of Ukpo marriage within and outside the community. She said their desire was to contribute towards the development of their fatherland through education, vocational skills and peace building. Nweze said the scholarship was from Primary to tertiary levels, adding that the gesture was inline with their  believe that education is sure path to development.   Soludo announces free education for nursery, primary and junior Sec schools From Uchenna Ezeadigwe  Awka Government of Anambra State led by the Governor, Professor Charles Soludo has abolished all payment of fees and levies in all government-run public schools in the state. Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo stated this at Premier Primary School, Obosi and Ado Girls Secondary School, Onitsha, on Thursday, 21st Sept, 2023 during a scheduled visit. Before now public schools in the State were tuition-free but all manner of levies were indiscriminately imposed on the pupils in virtually all the schools in the State  For instance, pupils in JSS1 to JSS3 were paying as much as N5,000 to N8,000 depending on the school as levies while pupils in SSS1 to SSS3 were also paying between N8,000 to N12,000 as levies/charges depending on the school.   3 girls rescue from baby factory in Anambra. Three girls have been rescued from a baby factory and child trafficking syndicate in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra state. The feat followed a 3-month investigation conducted by operatives of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) led by Chairman of the Council Area, Prince Neville Uchendu. The rescued victims included Thabita Okoli (14) from Arondizuogu, Imo State; ThankGod Blessing (20) from Bayelsa State and Chineye Mathew (19) from Ihite, Orumba South, Anambra State. The trafficking syndicate, Oruchukwu Okoroafor, a native of Arondizogu had since been handed over to the police for further investigation after which he would be charged. Okorafor, during investigation, confessed he had been in the business for two years, adding that the victims, who were pregnant were first set for the business for the year.
