  4,420 Anambra Women Back Emeka Eze. Over 4,000 market women and farmers yesterday  endorsed the candidacy of Pince Emeka Ezeh candidate of the People's Democratic Party PDP for Anaocha Dunukofia Njikoka federal constituency in the 2023 general election. The women under the umbrella of Ultimate Business women and farmers Association of Nigeria (UBWFAN) also  congratulated Prince . Dr. Emeka Eze  on his Victory in the just concluded PDP primary election for  Dunukofia Njikoka Anaocha federal constituency election . The women group expressed joy over the outcome of the election which it described as most peaceful and fairest election adding that with Eze at the National Assembly the future of Anambra women would be protected.   Obiano's wife Wins Anambra' North APGA Senatorial Primary. NKIRU NWAGBO, AWKA 29/05/22 Former Anambra First Lady Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano yesterday won the Anambra 'North Senatorial Primary election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA. Mrs Obiano defeated the former Chief Of Staff to her husband  Primus Odili in a keenly contested election which has been a source of controversy within the party. Obiano scored a total of 152 votes to beat Odili who scored a total of 120 votes while the the two other aspirants Sam Onwuteaka and Tony Nnacheta got two votes each  According to the Returning Officer Mr Ikenna Osuji described the election as peaceful adding that' both the delegates and the aspirants conducted themselves in an orderly manner.   Umeh Loses Anambra Central APGA Primary Election. Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA Sen Victor Umeh has lost the Anambra' Central Senatorial District Primary election to a two term member of the Federal House of Representatives Chief Dozie Nwankwo . Announcing the results  the Returning Officer  Mrs Elizabeth Nwokocha said Sen Victor Umeh scored 151 votes while Dozie Nwankwo scored 162 votes and Uzuegbuna Okagbue scored 10 votes . Nwankwo who represents Anaocha Dunukofia Njikoka Federal Constituency for the second term described his victory as a victory for democracy and his party APGA.   Anambra North APGA Senatorial Primary Postponed. As Thugs Storm Venue. The Anambra North Senatorial District Primary election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA was yesterday postponed following heavy presence of armed thugs at the Anambra' East local government area Otuocha venue for the election. At exactly 7,30 am  yesterday the Otuocha round about was taken over by suspected thugs who were allegedly imported to disrupt the election. Delegates when had arrived at the venue for the primary election could not go in and the Committee charged with the responsibility of conducting the primary election were still in Awka Anambra capital when information got to them that the security situation in the area has worsened. It took the intervention of the Otuocha Divisional Police Officer who deployed officers and men to major flash points in the area and took on  the thugs and recovered arms , matchers and clubs.     ANAMBRA POLICE FROWN AT RESIDENTS FOR NOT GIVING INFORMATION ABOUT GUNMEN.  Police in Anambra State have frowned over the reluctance of indigenes of various communities in the state to volunteer information about the activities of criminals in their areas saying that gunmen are not unknown. The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, stated this in a press conference on Monday, saying that there was nothing unknown about the gunmen terrorising Anambra State to warrant the ‘unknown gunmen’ tag. According to the commissioner while reacting to rumours that the slain Anambra lawmaker, Hon Okey Okoye was killed because of refusal to pay ransom, said there was no truth in the insinuation.   Kidnap suspects Police Rescue Kidnap Victims in Anambra, Arrest Suspects. Anambra State Police command has rescued a kidnap victim, ijideofor Attama. Attama was said to have been kidnapped at along Nnewi road last week, and a ransom of N10million placed on his head by his kidnappers, before he was rescued.   A press release by the state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said: “Anambra State Police Command operatives, on 17/5/2022 rescued a kidnap Victim, one ijideofor Attama Aged 32yrs ‘M’ from Igboetiti of Enugu State.   Soludo presents N170 billion supplementary budget to Anambra Assembly. Nkiru Nwagbo. Awka 19/05/2022 Anambra state Governor Prof Charlse Soludo has presented a reversed budget of N170 billion to the state House of Assembly for approval. Similarly the governor announced that the Anambra kidnapped lawmaker Mr Okey Okoye who was kidnapped on Sunday this week would be released as security operatives are making sustained efforts to secure his release. Soludo while presenting the supplementary budget today, said the purpose of the 2022 Revised budget was to reflect current realities, challenges,  priorities of the new administration and the dire needs residents in Anambra.    He  said that the budget was made up of N108 billion capital expenditure, accounting for 64 per cent compared to 57 per cent previously and N61.3 billion recurrent expenditure, translating to 36 per cent compared to 43 per cent in the previous budget.
