Gunmen Invade Home Of Ex-Sports Minister, Shoot Two Policemen, Boy

Two policemen attached to Ex-Sports Minister Damishi Sango were shot by Gunmen who  stormed the residence of the former Minister  at Ganawuri in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Wednesday night.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) reports that the Police in Plateau have confirmed the attack by gunmen, saying two of the policemen attached to the former minister under the Peoples Democratic Party, were shot by the bandits.

Ubah Ogaba, spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jos, said apart from the policemen, a boy in the same house, identified as Jethro,  was also shot and that all the victims were rushed to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for treatment.

“The Command is aware of the incident at Riyom and the victims have been rushed to the hospital where they are receiving treatment,” Ogaba said.

“The Commissioner of Police just left the scene of the crime. A team of detectives and intelligence officers has already commenced investigation and manhunt for the criminals. The former minister and his family are not hurt.”

Sango is the immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau.
