The Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh on Thursday splashed endowments ranging from scholarships, community facility projects, mobility aids for the physically challenged, assorted food items, cash gifts and other donations ahead of his 60th birthday on Friday, 28th November, 2025
Chief Metuh whose birthday trail blazed through his home town Nnewi, Anambra State on Thursday said he dedicated the landmark event to charity and service to humanity in thanksgiving to God for His boundless faithfulness and mercies in his life in the last six decades.
As part of activities for the birthday Metuh on Thursday continued his endowment series which commenced on the previous day by paying homage to Igwe Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III where he and his entourage of family members, friends, business associates and political allies received royal blessings and commendation from the royal father.
The birthday trail also visited old/retired Catholic priests at the Blessed Iwene Tansi Priest Center where Chief Metuh donated assorted food items and cash gift of N1,000,000 to take care of their medications; a gesture that brought smiles and joy to priests. Noting that his family played a key role in establishing the Catholic Church in Nnewi, Metuh said his visit to the center is out of the strong bond that exists between his family and the Church.
He later called at the Nnewi Correctional Center where he also made donations of food items and other essential supplies to the inmates. He announced a scholarship programme for inmates to any level of education while also paying off all the fines for those held for minor offense.
Chief Metuh also commissioned a water project which he built at the Center while stating for he is waiting for approval and permission from the authorities to build a world class skill acquisition center in the Facility
The birthday trail also visited children with special needs and disabilities at St Andrew’s Church, DCC Nnewi where he donated wheelchairs, crutches, mattresses, assorted food items, toiletries and a cash gift of N2,500,000 to take care of their sundry needs.
Speaking both at the Correctional Center and the home for children with special needs and disabilities, Metuh emphasized on faith in the unfailing grace of God for healing and restoration, urging them to always keep hope alive.
He also urged other good-spirited Nigerians to also take up initiatives to bring succour to the underserved in their challenges and travails.
In a Letter of Appreciation, the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye said Chief Metuh’s gestures “brought smiles, renewed strength and a sense of dignity to everyone”.
“As you celebrate your 60th birthday, please know that we rejoice with you. We pray that the good Lord who rewards every good deed will wrap you in His grace, grant you long life, good health and fulfillment in all your endeavours”, he said.
Metuh clocks 60 on Friday, 28th November, 2025 with praise and worship, prayers and thanksgiving to God which will be followed by clearance of hospital bills of indebted patients at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, empowerment of petty traders, widows, artisans and skilled persons and donation of care-funds to old people.
