The Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Centre for Research and Development (ECRED) have honoured the National Leader of Afamation Movement Worldwide, Hon Afamefuna Ezenwafor with a prestigious Award as the Youth Performer of the Year, 2025.


The award ceremony took place at Finotel hotels, Awka on 23rd Oct, during the Centre’s 3rd Annual Hybrid Conference, themed "Quintuple Helix Model: A Veritable Tool for Building Smart Environments, Innovative, and Sustainable Economies."


Professor Uche Okpala, Director of ECRED, presented the award to Hon. Ezenwafor, commending him for his impactful contributions to society through his Afamation Movement Worldwide. 


He highlighted the Centre’s mission to promote indigenous science and technology integration with conventional scientific advancements, citing successful models from India and China. 


Professor Okpala called for multi-sector collaboration to realize the Centre’s vision for sustainable development in Igbo land.


In his acceptance speech, Hon. Ezenwafor expressed gratitude to the organisers, describing ECRED’s initiative as crucial and deserving of broad support from both government and private sectors. 


He stated, “God has completed all creation and cannot create anything more for man than what man can do for himself. 


It is incumbent upon us to discover and apply solutions within creation to address existential challenges. 


Even 1000 years from now, humanity will continue to unearth new knowledge in nature. 


This research centre is exactly what Igbo land needs today as a catalyst for sustainable progress.”


He further pledged that Afamation Movement Worldwide would collaborate with ECRED in mobilizing human and financial resources to help achieve their shared goals.


Other awardees included Honourable Jude Akpua, Deputy Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Engr. Emeka Okafor, CEO, Orbital Creations, and Engr.Justin Udegbu, Managing Director at the Ministry of Water Resources, Imo State, among others.


Distinguished guests present at the event included Professor Ifeabunike Joseph Dioha, Director, Renewable Energy Centre and Professor of Chemistry and Renewable Energy Studies at the Admiralty University of Nigeria, who delivered the theme talk on behalf of Professor Abubakar Sambo; Professor Carol Iwobi, Acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Greg Ezeilo, Chairman of the Anambra Integrated Revenue Service and Professor Pius Okoye, Director, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Business School, to mention but a few.
