The Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre (UN-PEPOLAC) have held its Peace Advocates & Convention/Annual General Meeting in commemoration of the 2025 World Peace Day Celebration. 


The powered packed event saw culture of peace awareness, peace awards, appointment of peace alive iniatives campaign as well as the investiture and paper presentations as key activites which was held at the Hilton Leisure Resort and Hotels Awka from 19th-20th September, 2025, with the Theme - Act Now For A Peaceful World" (Peace, Panacea For Sustainable Development).



Speaking at the opening remark, the International President, Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre (PEPOLAC) and founder, presiding Bishop of holy Ghost New Life International Church His Excellency Bishop Ambassador Dr Festus Ozioma Ozoemena emphasised that peace isn't just a domain of diplomats but a role for everyone whether in school workplaces, communites, artistic spaces, or online. Its a democracy call that decentralises peacebuilding from Institutions to individuals. 


Bishop Ozoemena noted that this year's theme, "Act Now for A Peaceful World", underscores the urgent call for action, peacekeepers to students and ordinary citizens to respond concretely; speak out against violence, hate discrimination and inequality, fosters respect, value diversity, fight Misinformation, support human rights and engage in socially conscious consumerism and volunteering. 


The Spiritual Director In his clarion call, charged newly inducted Ambassadors to take concrete volunteering actions in every daily activities, supporting ethical brands, combating Misinformation, practicing empathy that cumulatively can shape a more peaceful society. "This theme brings peace building into the realm of everyday life, urging all of us to contribute, even in small ways to a more just inclusive and peaceful world", he added.


Bishop Moses Ezedebego,  Chairman Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Anambra in his address disclosed that People should be contempted with what they have. "People believe you have to get money by all means so that you measure up to prosperity. We have lost our values, and most of these are causing the challenges we have with insecurity, and also, the government should take responsibility in ensuring a peaceful society. People are hungry and suffering, so people can labour and make money to eat rather than indulge in crimes.


PFN Boss Anambra state, advised politicians not to take politics as a do-or-die affair. Youths should not allow themselves to be used to perpetrators' evil acts. We are praying that everybody should go and vote peacefully on November 8. The polician should also allow the voters to vote their conscience". 


Some of the notable dignitaries who were conferred with the prestigious UN-Ambassadorial Awards.


Bursar, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Dr Adaobi Ozioma Godwin  Ambassador of world peace, said "I thank God, I am happy because I am a peacemaker, and my father in heaven is a prince of peace. The Bible said you should pray for the peace of Jerusalem, so I am grateful to be honoured. 


 A community Leader, High Chief  Gabriel Anyibuofu Ohai, the Odogwu of Ogwashi Uku, in Aniocha South L.G.A, Delta state noted that the best way of pursuing peace is by pursuing those who threaten it.  "When you have criminal elements in your neighbourhood, you must make due to pursue them. because they will threaten the entire peace of the neighbourhood. We must not give crime a chance, so we will fight it so we more peace". 


Chief Lecturer Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr Arinze Igweto and his wife who was also bestowed with the Ambassador award, expressed happiness over the award. "I am elated because it's a call to duty. The result of hard work is more. Having been inducted, I see it as a further call to see that peace is enshrined in our society. To whom much is given more is expected".


Nneora Azodo Chinyere 

Account at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital Nnewi, and Minister and Cordinator, Queens Fellowship, Widows Forum, Mrs said  she feels great "because it's my heart's desire. It will really help me to fulfil my purpose because the main thing the Lord made me is to remain a reconciler of people to him. So, having a platform of peace, it will help me to minister in those realms. People see widows as those relegated to the background, and as an organiser and an instrument of God, I come to realise that widows are God's righteous Queens".


Igwe Elect, High Chief Dr Cletus Nath Ekoh, conferred with the title Aka Ekpuchi Onwa 1 of Ihe Kingdom Enugu state stated that "what peace is peace, and there is nothing greater than peace. I am happy to be identified as a peace ambassador today. We have been on this peace advocacy for years, and thank God I am recognised today. If there is peace people will return and go, some people spend money on escorts as well as other deviance means to protect themselves and so if there is much peace as expected, things will be moving smoothly. We are going to use this position to strengthen the peace advocacy in the immediate environment". 


Chief Ekph urged those who are rich to always see the avenue of empowering and feeding the poor around them. He also advised the youths to shun stealing but embrace hard work and engage in meaningful ventures that will be productive, and by so doing, our society will become peaceful. 


Rev Noble Nwokedi from Dioceses of Nnewi representing Rev Fr Stephen Nwafor from Carolina USA disclosed that from this award given today is a way to simplify God's grace upon his life. He assured that Canon Nwafor will do more for the purpose of the kingdom of God in unity people together. 


Advising the youths over high rate of crime, Rev Nwoked opened that in a world of chaotic environment that we find ourselves advised the youths to run away from all evil vices and pursue peace. Even though the people said that we should live in peace and harmony with one another, we must live our lives on the purpose of God so that they will achieve the plans of God over their lives. 


In-laws to Ambassador Prof Fidelis Ojimba, Prince Mike Obi, and Ihuoha Moses while asking God to keep the light shining, said it's a big honour for Prof Ojimba to be appointed as an advocate of peace and it's a great milestone fr the family. "I have known him as a man of peace, that is one of the things that made me to become his son in law, I found out that he is a peaceful man and I pray God will continue to give him peace all the days of his life, Amen. So we are here to celebrate with him, Prince Obi added. 


Also speaking, An African Educationist from Kaduna EVANG Dr. Nestor Okeke (JP) expressed satisfaction over the award, said God the Author and Foundation of Peace, and if the entire world can build on that very foundation, there will be peace everywhere. "I thank God, and we will continue to propagate peace all over the world. 


Executive Director, Human Right Observer for Justice and Equity in Nigeria, Amb Hon Chigbo Emmanuel Ejike, said his aim of this award is to advance peace all over the world. "I am happy fornoesce because within peace, things will not be in peace. Today is my special day, a day the Lord has made. I am very happy". Advicing the youths, Hon Okeke disclosed that the objective of the group is to fight injustice, infringement, embarrassment, corruption, and disolve conflict resolution all over the world." All the youths should follow peace because   peace no eyes will see God" 


Another Awardee, Engr Okechukwu Okeke (Ike of the Umunnachi community), described the award as a great move to join the peace world and advocate peace in Anambra, Nigeria, and the world I pray that as I have joined that God will be my helper to ensure that peace comes to all the nooks and crannies of the world. He advised the youths to listen to the advice of their fathers and reject any bad company. 


Meanwhile, special attractions was the donations for the Peace and leadership Centre Multi-purpose Building Project in Awka, while some dignitaries present were the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Solomon Uzochukwu Nwanonyuo, HIs Royal Majesty, Igwe (Dr) Bennett Izuchukwu Emeka, Okebo Umeri Ancient Kingdom, among others.
