Shock as Super Falcons win 10th WAFCON title in a 3-2 Comeback against Morocco

It was sn amazing feat for all football lovers as Nigeria’s national women’s football team, the Super Falcons became the champions of the WAFCON after a come back 2-3 win against Morocco on Saturday night.
The Falcons found themselves trailing early in the match, as Morocco struck twice in the first half. Ghizlane Chebbak opened the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by a second goal from Sanaâ Mssoudy in the 24th minute, giving the hosts a comfortable lead going into halftime.
However, the second half saw a remarkable turnaround from the Super Falcons, who came out with renewed determination and intensity. Esther Okoronkwo sparked the comeback by converting a penalty in the 64th minute. Seven minutes later, Folashade Florence Ijamilusi leveled the scoreline with a well-taken goal in the 71st minute.
The decisive moment came in the 88th minute when Jennifer Echegini fired home the winning goal, completing a stunning comeback and securing Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON championship.
Statistically, Nigeria outperformed Morocco in several key areas. The Super Falcons registered 14 shots to Morocco’s 10, with five of those on target. They also dominated possession with 55%, completed 280 passes at a 69% accuracy rate, and won five corners compared to Morocco’s three.
Despite the high stakes and intensity of the encounter, the match was played in good spirit, with no yellow or red cards issued. Nigeria committed seven fouls, while Morocco committed twelve.
