Oko Killings ; CP Orutugu Vows To Apprehend Perpetrators, Avert Future Occurrence

Anambra state Commissioner of Police Dr Ikioye Orutugu has assured that the command will leave no stone untrue to apprehend the Paptrators of Oko federal polytechnic killings on Thursday..
He expressed the command's firmly commitments towards implementing effective strategies to improve public safety and prevent the reoccurrence of such tragic incidents.
Recall that there was a confirmed report of unknown gunmen attack on Federal poly Oko in Orumba North Local Government Area where two were killed, many injured and two kidnapped on Thursday.
Hurricane News gathered that the unidentified gunmen unleashed these terrors in a suspected cult related attack.
According to a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga , The Anambra CP led a high-powered investigation team to the crime scene and met with key stakeholders in the community. said the visit was aimed at engaging the community and soliciting actionable intelligence that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible for the attack.
While patrolling the area, CP Orutugu also directed an immediate reinforcement of security personnel and surveillance operations.
He emphasized the need for heightened security, particularly around high-risk zones such as hostels and schools, to protect lives and maintain public order.
According to the Commissioner, the Anambra State Police Command remains firmly committed to implementing effective strategies to improve public safety and prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents.
He appealed to the local government chairman, community leaders, and student groups to foster a culture of vigilance and cooperation in exposing criminal elements operating in the area.
He further assured residents of a comprehensive and victim-centered approach to the investigation, which would not only prioritize justice but also ensure support for survivors and affected families.
The Residents of Oko have pledged to support law enforcement efforts by providing credible information to help apprehend the perpetrators.
During the visit, the Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Casmir Nwafor, alongside community leaders and representatives of the Oko Polytechnic Students’ Union, pledged their full cooperation with the police and other security agencies.
They expressed strong willingness to provide intelligence and assist in gathering evidence to reconstruct the events surrounding the incident.
The stakeholders also assured the law enforcement of their readiness to work collaboratively to implement proactive security measures aimed at preventing future occurrences.
They emphasized the need for sustained community-police partnership to ensure lasting peace in the area.
Meanwhile,the Commissioner stopped at a medical facility where injured victims were receiving treatment. He interacted with the hospital management and offered assurances of police support to aid in the recovery and care of the victims.
