10 year old son of Police Inspector kills father in accidental discharge

Tragedy struck in Awka the capital city of Anambra State when a ten year old boy , son of a serving police officer, accidentally shot and killed his father, Inspector Okolie Amechi in a shocking domestic incident.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement said the incident happened inside the family residence in Awka .

Ikenga said that the young boy, unknowingly handling an AK 47 rifle assigned to his father, discharged the weapon.

According to him, the bullet struck Inspector Amechi fatally in the back and also injured one of his children in the hand.

The wounded child is reportedly responding to treatment in a hospital while Inspector Amechi was confirmed dead on arrival by the attending doctor.

The Police spokes person said the rifle has been recovered by the appropriate authority and the body of the deceased officer deposited in the morgue.

Anambra Police Command expressed deep sorrow over the incident noting that the Command is fully committed to supporting the bereaved family and ensuring that similar lapses do not occur in future.

  IPOB Suspends Sit At Home. The Indegeous People Of Biafra IPOB yesterday made a change of heart by suspending the proposed Sit At Home Order billed to commence on the fifth of November. Recall that the Director of Publicity for the body had earlier announced that it would commence a Sit At Home strike on the fifth of this month if it's leader Mazi Nnamd Kanu is not released unconditionally on the fourth of November.
