The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has called on community leaders and stakeholders in Idemili North to assist him with information that could help identify those responsible for the suspected murder of a pregnant woman.

The CP who made this appeal  in a statement signed by the Command's  Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Tuesday described the incident as unfortunate and a stark example of "man's inhumanity to man."

The body  of the woman was found hanging on a cashew tree along the Uke/Ideani road.

He ordered a thorough investigation into the matter to identify the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to book.

Orutugu however called on members of the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the deceased.

He said that police operatives from the Ogidi Police Division have recovered the body and placed it in the mortuary for further examination.

The Commissioner of Police assured that further development would be communicated to the general public accordingly.
