Soludo To Empower Anambra Women With N1 Billion For Agriculture.

The sum of N1 Billion would be spent on women Corporative Societies in the 362 electoral wards in Anambra state.

The sum which is for cooperative societies embarking on food production would be given to each electoral ward at the rate of N3 million per ward.

Commissioner for Agriculture Dr Foster Ihejiofor who said this at the a visit of the Ultimate Business Women And Farmers Association Of Nigeria UBWFAN to his office noted that Gov Charles Soludo is introducing this to boost food production and also empower the respective Corporative Societies in the electoral wards in the area.

All the programs of Gov Soludo are very much sensitive to women and that has to do with Women Empowerment Scheme like a cooperative at the ward level to manage their business.

He is talking about each ward to get N 3 million for those in the agricultural sector and that would be about N 1 Billion or so and such women organizations would also be factored in for special relationship to partner with the state government.

We are looking at at least 8,000 women or there about and I believe that your association can mobilize this number of women across the state ; he said.

Earlier in her address the National President of the Ultimate Business Women And Farmers Association Of Nigeria UBWFAN Hon Nkiru Nwagbo noted that;

"We realize the critical role of your Ministry as a key driver to our programs and it is in this respect that we sought for this engagement and interface.

In this respect therefore, we urge you to integrate our members into National and International Organizations interested in building capacity of farmers notably federal government international food agriculture development program and the value chain development program (FGN/IFAD, VCDP) as well as ADP .

We expect that you should include us in their programs especially to enable us learn and tap into the opportunity therein

We also wish to extend our hands of commitment to you in the promotion of the lofty agricultural programs of the state government; she said.
