Shock , Grief, Trail Demise of Anambra Majority Leader.

Shock and grief are currently trailing the sudden death of the Majority Leader of the Anambra state House of Assembly Pham  Nnamdi Okafor who reportedly died in South Africa two days ago.

When contacted most of the Lawmakers who  offered to speak on this development said  they are short of words over the death.

According to the Speaker Mr Uchenna Okafor who spoke with our Correspondent on phone;

said Anambra State House of Assembly uses this medium to notify the public of the death of one of her members and majority leader of the House,Hon.Dr.Nnamdi Okafor who was representing Awka South One Constituency.

According to him" Information available to us indicate that Hon.Okafor slumped and died in South Africa.The cause of his death is  yet to be ascertained as we await the autopsy result.

Rt.Hon.Okafor described the death of the Majority Leader of the House as a great loss to the Legislative Institution in the State, Awka Community and the State at large and noted that the late Hon.Okafor was a knowledgeable and active legislator whose contributions both in the legislature and in his constituency distinguished him among his contemporaries.

The Speaker who spoke with uncontrollable tears, maintained that the State House of Assembly has lost a great, erudite and eloquent lawmaker in the person of Hon.Nnamdi Okafor and posited that the deceased lawmaker's short but eventful life and times are worthy of emulation.

Rt.Hon.Okafor on behalf of the State Lawmakers and the entire legislature, commiserated with his wife and the family and prayed God to grant the soul of Hon.Okafor eternal repose.

Similarly Gov Charles Soludo has expressed similar shock over the death of the lawmaker.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary Mr Christian Aburime ;

"It is shocking that the State Assembly lost another lawmaker to the cold hands of death, coming barely three months after the demise of the lawmaker representing Aguata Two Constituency, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye".

"Dr. Nnamdi Okafor was an active participant at the 7th Assembly who devoted his time and energy to represent his constituency. He'll be sorely missed".

"On behalf of Anambra State Government, may I use this medium to convey my sympathy to those he left behind, including his family, Awka Constituency One and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor as well as other lawmakers. Indeed, life is ephemeral. May the living continue to reflect on the essence of life and live for the good of the society like Dr. Okafor did".

At the Pharmacy and supermarket plaza( We Care Pharmacy) belonging to the late Major Leader along Ziks Avenue in Umuzocha village ; Awka , the building was under lock and key  as a shop owner close to the plaza confirmed that the staff did not come to work yesterday.

At the family house of the lawnmower behind the plaza all the buildings and gates were locked and according to the shop owner;

Non of his family members are leaving here and most of them are abroad and if you want to see anyone go to his private residence at Ngozika Estate ; he said.

At Ngozika Estate scores of sympathizers were seen Infront of the building talking in hush tones about his death .

One of the sympathizers who gave her name as Nneka told reporters that;

We use to see him often and there is no sign of any illness because the man is full of life and very friendly and we are shocked that this type of thing would happen to him; she said.

A lawmaker who would not want his name on print told reporters that;

"It is sad that we are loosing another member after Mr   Okey Okoye who was beheaded by gunmen last time .

As I speak with you most of us are in shock about what happened to our dear colleague and that I am speaking with you is because of your too much calls.
