Senate Not An Old People's Home. .. Okagbue

Ex-Governor Willie Obiano’s Deputy Chief of Staff Uzuegbunam Okagbue has described the Nigerian senate as not an old people's home insisting that it is time for the youths.

Okagbue who recently declared his intention to be in the 10th senate come 2023, said he remains the best person to represent Anambra-Central senatorial district because he believes in both personal and professional capacities saying that he does things differently.

According to Okagbue, “I have heard those who feel challenged by our entrance in the race attempt to mock our youthfulness by declaring that the Senate is not for beginners.

While I am young and proud of my youthfulness, I dare say that I am not a beginner. I have spent the last 16 years from age 28 preparing myself for this task. Eight years in the private sector and eight productive years of being a gatekeeper to ex-governor Willie Obiano carries a lifetime of experience in public service.

“May I also at the same time state that the Senate is not an old peoples’ home of some sort. It is a place for hard workers, for thinking heads and for those impatient with how poorly our people have been represented in the past.

If elected, I will target laws that make it easier for our people to do more business, make more money and develop our place even further. I will target laws that will make it easier for our people to get better quality education and for the educated ones to access good jobs and other opportunities available to them all over the world.

“While I will be sponsoring progressive bills that improve ease of business for the people in the senatorial district, I will also collaborate with my vast network to promote entrepreneurship amongst our people.

With purposeful representation, we will create solid human capital from the seven local government areas of Anambra-Central. The human capital that will go on to create for us, in the future, a society we will be proud to live in.”
