Unknown gunmen allegedly attacked Anambra PDP Guber Aspiant Azubogu , Driver Killed. Ajali Police station Burnt down.

Gubernatorial aspirants of the People's Democratic Party PDP and three term member of the National Assembly representing Nnewi North and South federal Constituency Chief Chris Azubogu was allegedly attacked today and his pilot driver killed by unknown gunmen at Nnewi Anambra state.

Azubogu's Convoy was said to have been attacked in Nnewi, but he was not in any of the vehicles as at the time of the attack .

A driver of one of the pilot vehicles in the convoy,whose identify was not immediately ascertained was killed in the attacked according to the source. 

As at the time of the attack, HURRICANE NEWS gathered that Azubogu was being awaited in Awka, where he was to announce his defection to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

This is coming as the dreaded unknown gunmen stormed the Ajali Police station and set the building ablaze as well as a branded campaign vehicles.


It is not clear yet the number of deaths or casualties as at the time of this report but it was alleged that some Policemen were killed.

Similarly gubernatoral candidate in the coming November governoship election in Anambra have gone into hiding following the killings by the gunmen .

Also banners, and bill boards bearing campaign massages are being pulled down while branded campaign vehicles have disappeared from the streets of Anambra state as well as vehicles bearing government plate numbers.

Also Nigerian coat of arms and flags have been removed from public and government buildings for fear of the attack by gunmen.

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Tochukwu Ikenga could not be reached on phone to confirm the incident.

Similarly there is heavy police presence in Anambra state as the police special squad commando with over thirty armoured personnel carriers taking over major security flash points at the River Niger bridge head, Upper Iweka, Nkpor, Abagana, Amawbia bye pass to the Enugu- Onitsha express way as well as Oba junction along Onitsha- Owerri express way.

Also officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSDC have been deployed to their respective duty posts .

According to a release by the Public Relations Officer of the command Mr Okadigbo Damian said that the state commandant Me Everestus Chimezie Obiayo has ordered the Head of Operations, Department of Intelligence and Investigations Department and Rapid Response Squad to coordinate security deployments and ensure that Officers operatie within the context of the law.

He noted that the essence is to ensure public Order and avert further occurrance .

  IPOB Suspends Sit At Home. The Indegeous People Of Biafra IPOB yesterday made a change of heart by suspending the proposed Sit At Home Order billed to commence on the fifth of November. The Anambra governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Awka today stuck out the petition filed by the candidate of Accord party Dr Godwin Maduka. Mercy Cynthia Mmesoma Obi, popularly known as Ada Jesus has died in an Abuja hospital of complications arising from kidney failure, few days after an encounter with Onitsha-based preacher, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, alias  Odumeje , inside his church.
