NEW ANAMBRA CP WARNS  AGAINST HUMAN RIGHT ABUSE.

The new Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command Mr Monday Bala Kuryas yesterday Challenged the officers and men of the command to eschew Corrupt practices and indiscipline.

Speaking during his maiden briefing yesterday at the police headquarters in Awka Kuryas identified some professional misconducts such as extortion, unlawful detention and incivility to members of the public among others.

He insisted that culprits would face the full consequences to enable the Command sustain the existing inter-agency collaborations , improve on respect for rule of law and human fundamental rights.

While reacting to incidents of armed robbery, kidnapping,,cultism and illegal revenue collection, he announced that the command would reinvigorate Operation Puff Adder 11 and give it more bite to tackle them.

He announced that major crime flash points such as Onitsha, Obosi, Mkpor, Enugu-Agidi and Nnewi would be given special attention and advised cultist and armed robbers to have a rethink and purge themselves or relocate from the state.

In his words"In keeping with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu NPM, to make Nigeria safer and under my watch shall take drastic measures on crime . Therefore all our efforts and energies shall be mobilized and deployed towards the prevention of crimes.

" The Command under my watch shall reinvigorate Operation Puff Adder 11 and give it more bite to tackle cultism, robbery, kidnapping and illegal revenue collections particularly in Onitsha, Nkpor, Obosi, Oba, Enugwu-Agidi, Nnobi/Alor road and Nnewi. This is a Clarion call to all Officers and men of the Command to brace up for the task ahead. My advise to cultists, robbers, kidnappers and other hoodlums in the state is for them to have a rethink and purge themselves or relocate from the state.

Kuryas lamented the menace of fake news which he said is capable of causing widespread disaffection, chaos and disruption of public peace.

Former Police Commissioner Mr John Abang was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and transferred to zone 4 Makudi which necessitated the deployment of a new Commissioner Mr Monday Bala Kuryas.

The New Commissioner decorated some promoted officers at the Command.
